Martin Brown

One of Haverhill’s most respected business leaders, before retiring in 2015, Martin enjoyed a successful career as Managing Director for Herbert Retail Ltd, a highly profitable company with over 300 employees.
Martin`s 31-year journey with Herbert is truly an inspiring one, starting on the shop floor his unshakable work ethic and drive to succeed saw him rapidly rise to the boardroom and navigate his way to the position of MD, successfully overseeing all Herbert UK operations.

With his strong commercial and financial awareness Joshua Tarrant Trust have been blessed to have Martin assist with the back office side of our operation, our contract with Brainbow as an example is comprehensive and somewhat daunting, understanding our responsibilities with the UK Charity Commission is essential for the day to day running of JTT, all of this has been managed by Martin, his advice, vision & recommendations have been simply invaluable.

Away from his business acumen, Martin is ever-present at the majority of our fundraising events, early starts helping to set up events like the popular Walk with Us in Haverhill’s East Town Park, transporting equipment to other regional shows, but he is probably best known for the important role as refreshments manager at the Joshua Tarrant Memorial Golf Day, along with his non-golf playing partner Darren (JTT Trustee) they provide cold refreshments and humour from their well-stocked golf buggy, pit stops on various fairways is a welcome sight to many of the golfers on course, returning a healthy amount of monies from generous donations by the players & supporters.

Martin has been happily married to Donna (our trustee) for 44 years, in typical Martin style when asked “we married in August 1977, same week Elvis died” Thank you, Martin – ever dependable we could not be where we are today without you.

Keith & Amanda Williams

Keith & Amanda are a local happily married couple who set up KiiWii Clothing & Promotions Ltd in 2010.

They were both born and raised in Haverhill & are extremely proud members of the local community. Family is very important to them both and they are loving parents of two caring young daughters. 

Both are totally dedicated to their growing business which supplies a wide range of embroidered & printed clothing, safety workwear and promotional products to a variety of local companies as well as uniform for many local schools from their premises in nearby Steeple Bumpstead.

Both have been passionate supporters of Joshua Tarrant Trust, sponsoring merchandise & promotional products to assist with a vast amount of JTT fund raising campaigns.

During the 2020/21 pandemic they have produced a range of promotional merchandise and clothing for the now famous Disco Kitchen which they are proud members & providing other DK members bespoke merchandise with donations of each sale going directly to Joshua Tarrant Trust.

Both Keith and Amanda are truly honoured to have donated well over £2000 from the sales of Disco Kitchen merchandise, both have taken Joshua’s story to their hearts and are passionate about supporting the Trust for the future & delighted to have been chosen as Ambassadors.

Away from the business (which is time limited) Amanda enjoys reading, walking and gardening. Keith however is a thrill seeker! He loves the scariest of rides at theme parks, he has a passion for martial arts, to slow things down a little Keith loves golf and wishes he had more time to play.

As a couple they both have a deep love for music (the louder the better). The Reading festival being one of their favourites. It is hardly surprising that Keith & Amanda have a close social circle of friends. Entertaining friend`s for a takeaway, playing silly games & music is the norm for the Williams household.

Keith & Amanda are our first couple to be named as ambassadors for the Joshua Tarrant Trust, we thank you for everything and we could not be where we are today without you.

Andy Palazon

You will not meet many people from the Town of Haverhill that do not know Andy `Pally` Palazon
Andy runs his own successful window cleaning business which he started 27 years ago. He is also a passionate DJ & created Soundwaves Disco as a business back in 1995.

Andy has lived in Haverhill from the age of 6. Married to his schoolteacher wife Karen for 7 years he has 3 children and a stepdaughter, Andy is very much a loving husband and father, family life is what fulfils him the most. When he does have any spare time, he enjoys watching most sports and is a massive West Ham supporter, also a big NFL fan, his Dads side of the family are from Chicago, so he proudly follows all Chicago sport teams particularly the Bears & the Cubs.

In his younger days Pally is regarded by many as being a talented footballer, a midfield dynamo well known within the local and county football set up & had a successful playing career with Haverhill Rovers FC, West Wratting FC and several Sunday League sides before hanging up his boots.

In 2018 Andy started his own charity Disco events to raise money for many local causes. He has developed a huge following, tickets are usually sold out within hours of going live, it was at one of these events that through mutual friends he heard of the Joshua Tarrant Trust and agreed to host an event and raise some funds for the local charity supporting children affected with brain tumours JTT. In 2020 Covid-19 arrived with a bang, with many elderly and vulnerable people struggled to cope with this new pandemic, Andy was one of the first to react and started to deliver food parcels and help to those in need within the local community.

Shortly into the first lockdown Disco Kitchen Facebook group was born, designed to entertain family and friends, with no intention of if becoming a fundraiser. However, due to people wanting to donate for the entertainment, Andy and Denise had a chat about the possibility of donating any monies from fundraising to the Joshua Tarrant Trust. 
Through the hard work and generosity of the local community and beyond, the group grew ever more popular, Disco Kitchen became a large fundraising platform for the trust which just grew and grew, at the time of writing (March 4th 2021) Disco Kitchen has raised a staggering £65,000.00 and has a whopping 8000 followers from around the globe, with 20 plus local DJs, singers and performers hosting on the Disco Kitchen platform every weekend.

It is without question that Joshua Tarrant Trust would not have survived throughout the national pandemic, regular fundraising events were cancelled, the future was bleak, then along came a Superman by the name of Andy Palazon. Thank you, Andy we could not be where we are today without you.

Alan Bampton

Alan `Bammo` Bampton moved to Haverhill from Bermondsey, London in the 1970s as part of the London overspill scheme, Bammo attended the Cangle, Chalkstone Middle and then finally Samuel Ward for his schooling. He left school to work on the shop floor for Office Project Furniture, one of Haverhill’s biggest employers at the time.
In his early 20s Alan looked for a career change and found an ideal position with a Passive Fire Protection Company, within a few years steady progression saw him move into the office environment as an Assistant Contracts Manager. Alan has remained in the Fire Protection sector, he is now Operations Manager for Bury St Edmunds based GBS, East Anglia’s biggest Passive Fire Protection Company.

Alan has 3 children, Mollie, Louie & Theo. In his spare time, he enjoys watching his sons play football. For leisure Alan is a competitive Golfer with a current handicap of 9 he is also a huge Arsenal fan. A regular at the Joshua Tarrant Memorial golf Day. Alan has always been very generous with his support; however, an encounter with his close friend Michael Bavester on Christmas Eve 2018 was about to make Bammo a true JTT legend!
So, the pair of them chatted over a couple of Christmas pints, Alan mentioned he wanted to find a way of raising funds for JTT, Michael challenged him to grow a beard for 12 months, the rules were that it had to remain natural and could not be trimmed at any time, Alan set his goal at £1000 and the bet was on. Michael was the first to donate and presented Alan with £100.

Alan was very creative with his fundraising & approached many businesses for sponsorship, for a generous amount they could choose a colour for Alan to dye for a month, collections were also made regularly at local pubs & it was now the talk of the town with plenty of local media coverage. Christmas Eve 2019 was the climax, a huge gathering assembled at the Royal Exchange Public House (the location of the challenge 12 months earlier) for the big shave off and the announcement of the final figure for JTT…………. A massive £5,109.36

Neil Saville

Neil is the Managing Director of Haverhill Company Stylize Display Graphics. Established over 20 years ago, based their premises in Hollands Road, Haverhill. Stylize have grown in stature and seem to be the place every commercial business calls upon for professional bespoke signage, exhibition, conference display and printing services.

Neil is happily married to Sheila; they have 2 grown up children and have two beautiful grandchildren as well as two very nice little Dachshunds (Sausage Dogs)

Neil has supported our charity from the very beginning when we were simply just a fund and long before we applied to the UK Charity Commission for official status in 2017. Stylize has made us into the brand we have become today.

One of the outstanding attributes to Neil is ability to remain calm, there have been many occasions where we have called on his services at short notice, Stylize have delivered on time – every time and the finished work is always of the finest quality and appearance.

Neil has entered a team in the Joshua Tarrant Memorial Golf Day since its inception in 2013, not always available to play himself due to business restrictions he makes sure the team are always there and looking smart in their matching Stylize golfing attire.

His golfing claim to fame occurred on a beautiful sunny day in August 2017 at Saffron Walden Golf Club, hitting the first recorded hole in one to be scored at the Joshua Tarrant Memorial Golf Day, a wonderful achievement by a wonderful man.

Shirley Fowler

Shirley is the Finance Director for local prestige joinery company JMP Furniture Solutions Ltd. Formed in 2009 by the Fowler family. The company has developed a premium reputation for exceptional quality and reliable service throughout the East of England.

Shirley was born and raised in Haverhill and very much a pillar of the local community.
Shirley & Mick have been together for 30 years and will celebrate their 23rd wedding anniversary in July 2021, they have 3 children Megan, Sianie & the youngest Jake (who was at school with Joshua) they are also blessed with 5 grandchildren.

So, what does Shirley like to do when she is not organising her work and family life? The answer is simple – holidays and running and even better when you combine the two together! She has been a staunch member of Haverhill Running Club for 14 years and regularly leads out groups of runners of all abilities, she has also coached at the club for the last 5 years.
A keen marathon runner, Shirley can boast of completing in over 100 full marathons around the globe, and she is no slouch either!

JMP have been a wonderful supporter of Joshua Tarrant Trust, twins Mick & Paul Fowler have participated in every JTT Memorial Golf Day since its inception in 2013, when ever we have asked for sponsors, they have raised the bar with their generosity.
As well as attending many events JMP have sponsored running vests, medals & golf holes. The list goes on.

Matt Cullen

Matt is a retail manager whom despite hailing from Plymouth has lived in Haverhill for most of his life and went to school in the town (Place Farm, Chalkstone, Samuel Ward)

Matt is married to Roxanne, a SENCO at a local school, and they have two children, Hudson and Rosalie, and more recently, two cats named Jet and Cupcake. Time with his family is his most treasured interest.

Growing up Matt was a keen footballer and played for a number of youth sides in the town, as well as playing for local sides on both Saturdays (Hundon) and Sundays (Delaware Feather Angels, OOAH FC). Matt was part of a very successful “Haverhill United Old Boys” side that included another of our ambassadors, Pally.

Matt has a huge interest in music, cheese, gin, visiting the USA, fantasy sports and spreadsheets and is known by his close friends as being a bit of a nerd. His biggest passion, however, is the NFL and it is that passion, combined with his love for spreadsheets, which he has put to good use to support the Joshua Tarrant Trust

During Covid lockdown, and inspired by the work Pally had undertaken to raise money through the Disco Kitchen, Matt decided to put together a Fantasy NFL competition to raise funds for us. Tapping into the growing popularity of the NFL and fantasy sports in the UK, and using a moderate circle of followers on social media, he created the “JTT Cup” ready for the 2021 NFL season.

2021 was a modest success, attracting 60 people to enter and raising £760.

 Fast forward to the 2024 edition and Matt has attracted 620 people from 20 different countries, as wide ranging as New Zealand, Vietnam and El Salvador. Recently, the all-time fundraising figure from the JTT Cup alone surpassed £32,000 across a 4 year period. Matt is also widely credited with bringing together the UK NFL community through this competition, with nearly 500 UK based players alone all coming together to help support our cause.

The competition is now the largest of its format in the world and has inspired a number of other UK based charity competitions raising money for good causes. Matt continues to grow his personal following and that of the JTT Cup with a view to reaching £50,000 raised by the end of 2025.
